Yamaha’s digital multi-effects unit was used by shoegaze bands in the 90s, most notably Slowdive. Catalinbread has recreated the popular “Soft Focus” patch from the FX500 in a compact effects pedal. The Soft Focus divides the reverb signal into three paths: a chorus is added to the first, an octave-up effect to the second. The third path is mixed with pure reverb. The “Mod” knob controls the tempo of the chorus modulation. The “Symph” knob determines the volume of the octave-up effect.
