Backed by the United States government History of the coin:This is the first year for a new Platinum series, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution featuring newly designed one-ounce 99.95 percent platinum proof coins. This five-year series (2021-2025) will reflect the five freedoms in the First Amendment —“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The 2021 Platinum American Eagle coin is the first coin in the new First Amendment program series which focuses on Freedom of Religion.
