Fra le repliche ASG apparse nel corso del 2010, spicca certamente per la sua originalità il lanciagranate M79 proposto dalla King Arms.
L'arma originale è stata adottata nel 1960 dalle forze armate statunitensi, e, grazie alla sua efficacia, precisione, gittata e semplicità, è ancora oggi impiegata (sia pure dai soli reparti speciali)).
Si tratta di un fucile lanciagranate monocolpo, a canna basculante con un meccanismo simile a quello dei fucili da caccia, in grado di sparare granate da 40 mm sino a 350 metri.
La sua sagoma particolare l'ha resa una icona del conflitto nel Vietnam, anche se in realtà è stata adottata ed impiegata da numerose forze armate.
La replica di King Arms si offre ad un mercato formato da appassionati del reenactment e collezionisti, più che ai giocatori di airsoft.
Fra le caratteristiche di questa riproduzione la costruzione in metallo e legno, la possibilità di completa regolazione dell'alzo, la guardia del grilletto rotante, l'estrattore e la sicura.
Di fronte ad una costruzione fedele e senza compromessi per quanto riguarda i materiali impiegati, stanno la scarsa gittata e la necessità, per un uso proficuo sul campo di gioco, di una buona scorta di granate a gas.
Di converso il suo impiego in giochi CQB può rivelarsi fatale per la squadra avversaria.
La M79 viene fornita in una semplice confezione e senza accessori; la granata che appare nelle foto è stata utilizzata quale esempio, e deve essere comperata a parte.
