BLACK OUT SOFTAIR TEAM CAORLE: OPEN FIELD WALKAROUND

Resoconto di una sfida domenicale in un campo da gioco, e di una scelta di fondo: aprire i propri spazi agli altri club.

Report of a Sunday challenge in an airsoft playground, and of a basic choice: to open their space to other clubs.

Il team BLACK OUT di Caorle, attivo dal 1996, si è affacciato in AirsoftCommunity.it annunciando Operazione Embassy, un evento in programma per il prossimo autunno, e dalle premesse destinato a rimanere quale punto fermo nella storia dell’airsoft di casa nostra.

La prima prova è venuta dal numero di iscrizioni giunte, tale da imporne la chiusura al sodalizio organizzatore.

The BLACK OUT Team from Caorle, it is active in airsoft since 1996; it has came into AirsoftCommunity.it by announcing an event scheduled for this autumn, operation Embassy. By the premises, this latter will may remains as a milestone in the history of Italian airsoft.

The first test came from the number of incoming entries, such high that at the present it obliged the closure from the organizing association.

Ho avuto l’occasione ed il piacere di essere loro ospite, scorazzando per uno dei loro campi, il Fox Village; ho scoperto la loro politica sociale di open field; e, cosa a mio avviso più importante, un gruppo di belle persone.

La circostanza è stata fornita da un confronto amichevole fra i “Blackout” ed una nutrita rappresentanza di SAC SOFTAIR CARPI, venuta a sfidare i veneti sul loro terreno.

I had the opportunity and pleasure to be their guest, roaming around one of their fields, the Fox Village; I have discovered their social policy of OPEN FIELD, and, most important thing in my opinion, a group of beautiful people.

The opportunity it was provided by a friendly confrontation between the "Blackout" and a large delegation of SAC SOFTAIR Carpi, wich decided to challenge the Venetians on their field.

L’appezzamento dove si trova Il campo da gioco teatro dell’amichevole sfida fra Caorle e Carpi ha una lunghezza di circa 420 metri e larghezza di circa 110, ed infine sagoma rettangolare.

Parecchi anni orsono, vi era stata intrapresa la costruzione di un complesso turistico, arrestata quando gli edifici (delle villette a due piani) mancavano del tetto. Si tratta quindi di una superficie privata, concessa in uso a Black Out da chi ne detiene la proprietà.

La porzione edificata ha una lunghezza di circa 270 metri, mantenendo la larghezza di 110 metri.

The plot where the playground is, and that was scene of the friendly confrontation between Caorle and Carpi it has a length of about 420 meters and width of about 110, and finally a rectangular shape.

Several years ago, there it had been undertaken the building of a tourist complex, stopped when the buildings (houses of two floors) were missing of the roof.

It is therefore a private area, and the use it is granted to Black Out by whom it owns it.

The built portion it has a length of about 270 meters, keeping the width of 110 meters.

Il terreno è piano, ed a mio avviso molto tecnico per la coesistenza di alcuni elementi:

- le diciotto costruzioni, tutte a due piani, ed ognuna di per se adatta ad essere attrezzata a difesa

- una vegetazione cresciuta abbastanza da offrire riparo e refrigerio, con sottobosco fitto e un intreccio di sentierini

- la presenza di alcune radure.

La distanza d’ingaggio vi si riduce di molto, ed anche le posizioni elevate non offrono molta visuale o campo di tiro.

Il movimento assume una fondamentale importanza, in un alternarsi di snaking, crowling e sprinting.

The terrain is flat, and I believe very technical for the coexistence of several elements:

- The eighteen buildings, all two floors high, and each in itself suitable to be equipped as a stronghold;

- Vegetation grown enough to provide shelter and refreshment, with dense undergrowth and a network of small trails

- The presence of a few clearings.

The distance of engagement will be greatly reduced, and also the assuming an high positions do not offer much visual or shooting range.

The move assumes a relevant importance, in a succession of snaking, crowling and sprinting.

Non vi sono strutture di servizio dirette; a poca distanza si trovano parcheggi, pubblici esercizi, un centro commerciale, e, per la deprecabile necessità di cure mediche, un presidio di pronto soccorso è presente in Caorle stessa.

There are no direct service facilities; not far, trere are parking lots, a coffee haouse and shops, and, for the unfortunate need of medical treatment, a first aid is present in Caorle.

La politica OPEN FIELD

OPEN FIELD politics

I BLACK OUT hanno deciso di adottare nelle loro giocate una politica di condivisione ed apertura, aprendosi a tutte le associazioni che vogliano giocare sui loro campi.

Questo porta ad un reciproco scambio di conoscenza ed esperienza, permettendo una crescita nelle tecniche agonistiche che, tengo a sottolinearlo, in un campo come questo richiedono molto più che non lo “spray and pray”.

The BLACK OUT decided to take in their games a policy of sharing and openness, opening up to all the associations that will wants to play on their fields.

This leads to a mutual exchange of knowledge and experience, allowing growth in agonistic techniques, that, I want to emphasize, in a field like this will require much more than the "spray and pray".

Ci sarà comunque nei prossimi mesi estivi una pausa quasi completa, dovuta a due ragioni.

Caorle è una città balneare e turistica, incantevole nella sua parte storica, esaltata da un bellissimo lungomare; molti fra gli appartenenti al sodalizio in questa stagione sono totalmente assorbiti da impegni professionali che si diraderanno a partire dall’autunno.

Oltre a questo, la fase preliminare all’Operazione Embassy è già entrata nel pieno; e quindi le risorse di persone e tempo del team sono devolute principalmente a questo obiettivo.

There will still be in the next summer an almost complete pause, due to two reasons.

Caorle it is a tourist resort, charming in its historical part, enhanced by a beautiful waterfront; many of the members of the association during this season are totally absorbed by professional commitments, that will grown thinner since the autumn.

Besides this, the preliminary phase of Operation Embassy it is already entered in full, and hence the resources of people and time of the team are devoted primarily to this objective.

IL GIOCO

THE GAME

Lo ammetto: descrivere una partita di softair è impresa non delle più facili.

Il fatto stesso che fra gli strumenti di gioco vi siano camuffamento e mimetizzazione impedisce all’osservatore di apprezzare molto di quanto accade sul campo, ed in specie il gioco di squadra e le abilità individuali nel movimento.

I must admit it: to describe an airsoft game it is not the easiest undertaking.

The very fact that amid the tools for the game there are camouflage and masking, will prevents the viewer to appreciate much of what happens on the field, and especially teamwork and individual skills in movement.

Detto questo, nella partita cui ho assistito, ed in cui Carpi attaccava e Caorle difendeva, ho potuto apprezzare un buon utilizzo del terreno da parte di entrambe le squadre.

I BLACK OUT avevano organizzato una difesa di punto al piano superiore di una delle costruzioni, accessibile solo da una rampa di scale, ma con due lati ciechi, e circondata su tre lati da vegetazione; alcuni team mobili si erano dispersi sulle probabili vie di afflusso degli attaccanti, per individuarli ed attaccarli.

That said, during the game which I attended, and where Carpi attacked and Caorle defended, I could appreciate a good use of terrain by both teams.

The BLACK OUT had organized a defence point of the upper floor of a building, accessible only by a flight of stairs, but with two blind sides, and surrounded on three sides by vegetation; some mobile teams were scattered on the likely routes of inflow by the attackers, to locate and attack them.

I contatti avvenivano quasi sempre a distanze inferiori ai venti metri; da entrambe le parti, il tiro era molto spesso sufficientemente breve da non esporre chi lo praticava a divenire a sua volta bersaglio.

Da parte del SAC, l’approccio al caposaldo del team avversario è avvenuto sfruttando efficacemente, sin dove disponibile, il sottobosco. Quindi, è stato creato un punto di copertura in una abitazione antistante l’obiettivo, e si è cercato l’accerchiamento sfruttando sin dove possibile i lati ciechi dell’obiettivo.

The contacts took place mostly at distances being lesser than twenty meters from both sides, the shot was often short enough to unexpose the shooter to become a target itself.

By the SAC, the approach to the stronghold of the opposing team has been done using effectively, since where available, the undergrowth. Then, they created a coverage point inside a home in front of the target, and has sought the encirclement using when possible the blind sides of the target.

Nella fase finale, si sono avute due attività contemporanee.

Da un lato, vi è stato un susseguirsi di scaramucce fra difesa esterna e punte attaccanti.

Contemporaneamente, si è cercato di raggiungere l’edificio designato quale obiettivo, sotto il tiro dei difensori.

In the final stage, there were two contemporary activities.

On one hand, there was a succession of skirmishes between defense and attacking teams.

Simultaneously, were developed efforts to reach the building designated as the target, under the fire of the defenders.

In tutto questo, devo rimarcare che negli atleti aleggiava quello che io chiamo “il giusto spirito”, con un comportamento leale e rispettoso dell’avversario, qualche momento di goliardica ironia, e soprattutto la coscienza che di gioco si trattava.

In all this, I must point out that in athletes there were what I call "the right spirit”, a fair play and respect for opponents, some funny irony, and especially the consciousness that all people there was just playing a game for amusement.
