L'industria belga Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal sin dal 1946 intraprese il progetto di un fucile automatico per l'epoca moderno, affidando i lavori al suo miglior tecnico, Dieudonné Saive.
Dieci anni dopo, il risultato di quell'impegno: il Fusil Automatique Leger, fu adottato dal Canada e ridenominato C1. Da allora, oltre 70 nazioni hanno acquistato o costruito su licenza l'arma belga.
Dopo mezzo secolo, quasi tutti i suoi utilizzatori sono passati ad armamenti più moderni, ma ancora due nazioni producono questo fucile: il Brasile e gli Stati Uniti.

Fra i produttori di ASG che hanno dedicato la loro attenzione a questa famiglia di armi vi è la King Arms. Dalle mie parti non è facile, comunque, trovare i suoi modelli, ed è per questo che Military Store ha deciso di recuperarne almeno un paio, già utilizzati dal distributore come esemplari dimostrativi.

Questo spiega la presenza di qualche traccia di vissuto, visibile dalle foto, su questi FAL compatti, in cui io ravviso l'ispirazione ai prodotti della DSA.

La King Arms ha battezzato le due AEG come FAL Carbine e FAL Tactical Carbine
