La scelta

• movimento automatico: basta batterie che si scaricano;
• resistenza all'acqua: ne faccio uso "ognitempo";
• vetro zaffiro: per esperienza praticamente impossibile da rigare;
• cassa in titanio: per leggerezza e solidità;
• ghiera esterna ruotabile: il cronografo risulta inutile alle mie necessità, una ghiera regolabile offre quel che mi serve;
• illuminazione trigalight: in assenza di batteria e con la necessità di leggere l'ora al buio non intendo dover sperare che l'orologio abbia sufficientemente caricato l'illuminazione al fosforo durante la giornata;
• aspetto "mil": per mero gusto estetico.

• un ampio quadrante;
• impermeabilità 300m;
• corona posta a sinistra del quadrante (come per gli orologi da mancini), molto comoda quando si utilizzano i guanti;
• una scelta completa di bracciali (in titanio, in gomma "diver", in tessuto "NATO", ed in cuoio);
• due colorazioni della cassa e dei bracciali in titanio (grigio titanio e nero);
• tre tipologie di illuminazione (verde, blu, 'ICS');

My choice

• automatic movement: no more batteries that are discharged when you more need your watch;
• water resistance: I'll have an "all-weather" use;
• sapphire: in my experience, virtually impossible to scratch;
• titanium case: for lightness and strength;
• adjustable outer ring: the chronograph is useless for my needs, an adjustable ring offers what I need;
• trigalight lighting: without battery and with the need to read the time in the dark, I don't mean having to hope that the clock has sufficiently charged phosphorous lighting during the day;
• "mil" aspect: for merely aesthetic.

• 300m water resistance;
• crown to the left of the dial (like left handed watches), very handy when using gloves;
• a complete selection of bracelets (titanium, rubber "DIVER bracelet", nylon "NATO strap", and leather);
• two colors for the case and titanium bracelet (titanium gray and black);

Tawatec M7 Titan Diver Automatic is solid and impressive even at first glance.

It as a minimalist but complete design, the choice of characters provide good readability of the dial and the calendar.

The dial:

 Misura 35 mm di diametro, lo sfondo è nero opaco. Lo stile segue la linea minimalista dell'orologio, lo sfondo è nero opaco, alle 12 un bel triangolo da 5 mm di colore rosso con tacca bianca da 4 mm ed illuminazione arancione. 

 Measures 35 mm in diameter, with opaque black background. The style follows the minimalist clock, the background is matte black, at 12 o'clock a nice red 5 mm triangle mark with a 4 mm orange tritium insert.

Hours are marked from 1 to 11 in 3 mm "octil stencil" font with 3 mm white notch with blue illumination, hours are also reported from 13 to 24 hours in the same character with a height of 1 mm.

Minutes are marked with 2 mm white notch and seconds are marked with 1 mm white notch.

 

 Il datario, posizionato alle 04:20, ha carattere nero su sfondo bianco per garantire la massima leggibilità anche in assenza di lente sul vetro.

 The date window, positioned at 04:20, has black font on a white background for maximum readability even in the absence of the glass lens.

At the center of the upper half of dial stands the inscription TAWATEC, while in the lower part we find the words "T25", to indicate the lighting technology, "AUTOMATIC" to indicate the type of movement, "Sapphire", indicating the composition of the glass, and "300M/990FT" to indicate the water resistance.

At 6 the word "JAPAN MOVT" for this version with the "Citizen/Miyota" movement.

The hands are white for hours and minutes, respectively, 10 and 14 mm; the secondhand is red and measures 18 mm. All hands have blue H3 inserts.

The sapphire cristal, perfectly flat, combines excellent transparency with unparalleled scratch resistance.

 Ruotabile in senso antiorario con scatti al minuto; non presenta giochi anomali e la durezza dello scatto non è eccessiva pur evitando rotazioni indesiderate in caso di sfregamento.

 It rotates counter-clockwise in steps per minute, has no games and step hardness is not too high while avoiding unwanted rotations in the event of rubbing.

The bezel shows, in engraving, as inscription the minutes 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 50, while as a mark the first fifteen (other than those engraved in numbers) and minute 25, 35, 45, 55.

At 0/60 a circular embossed marker with 1mm blue H3 illuminating insert.

The use of the bezel replaces the chronograph function properly without specific need for precision in seconds or less.

 

 L'uso della ghiera è intuitivo, ma vale la pena comunque sottolinearne le due modalità di utilizzo: 

•  Contaminuti: basta ruotare lo 0 fino alla posizione attuale della lancetta minuti, per poi conoscere il tempo trascorso sarà sufficiente leggere i minuti sulla ghiera anziché sul quadrante, valida fino ai 60 minuti od oltre a patto di fare lo sforzo di ricordarsi a che ora era iniziato il conteggio;
   
•  Timer: simply rotate the 0 to the current position of the minutehand, then to know the elapsed time will be sufficient to read the minutes on the bezel instead on the dial, valid up to 60 minutes or longer as long as you make the effort to remember to now starting hour;
   
   

•  Conto alla rovescia: basta un piccolo sforzo di "matematica" e ruotare lo 0 fino alla posizione attuale della lancetta dei minuti più i minuti desiderati per il countdown; quando la lancetta dei minuti arriverà allo 0 il tempo sarà scaduto.
   
•  Countdown: Just a small effort to "mathematics" and rotate the 0 to the current position of the minutehand plus the minutes for the countdown, when the minute hand will be at 0 time expired.

 In titanio lavorato dal pieno è lineare e semplice con finitura superficiale satinata opacizzata; ha uno spessore di 7 mm escluse la ghiera ed il fondo. Sul lato sinistro, a protezione della corona, sono realizzate due indentature smussate. 

 Full titanium machined, is linear with simple satin matt surface finish. It's 7 mm thick, excluding the bezel and the case back. At 9, to protect the crown, two notches are made smooth.

The case back, is screwed in the case and visibly rounded; incision characterize the model as shown in the picture.

 Come anticipato posta a sinistra per non costituire intralcio nell'uso con guanti corti, è a vite.

 As anticipated is positioned at 9 for better fit with gloves, and is closed by screw.

Once unscrewed counterclockwise, the stem has three positions, from the closest to the case we have:

• manual loading of the spring;
• the date adjustment;
• the time adjustment.

To close and reassuring the water resistance make a slight pressure on the crown and screw in with a couple of laps in clockwise direction.

 Si fissano alla cassa con classici perni a molla da 22 mm.

 These are fixed to the case lugs with usual 22 mm spring pins.

The "Nato Strap" is made of black nylon and has titanium loops and closing; has a total length of 27 cm and closing holes for a wrist circumference between 18 and 25 cm in 11 positions. A second layer of nylon strap under the case strap improves comfort.

The "Diver" is composed of two pieces of black rubber, soft but strong, with double rubber loop and titanium closure. The total length of the strap is 28.5 cm and the drilling allows settings from 18 to 24 cm wrist circumference in 9 positions. Characteristic shared with other divers strap is double drilling with double clasp.

The bow of the closure is engraved with the brand TAWATEC.

 Il prezzo dichiarato sul sito del produttore va dai 649,00 €, per la versione con movimento Sellita e cinturino NATO o in gomma, ai 759,00 € per la versione con movimento Sellita e bracciale in titanio; il modello in mio possesso, con movimento Citizen/Miyota, è stato acquistato nell'aprile 2011 al prezzo di 311,00 € da un noto rivenditore svizzero non coinvolto in questa recensione.

 The price stated on the manufacturer website ranges from € 649.00, for the version with Sellita movement and NATO or Diver bracelets, to € 759.00 for the version with Sellita movement and titanium bracelet. 

I bought my watch, with Citizen movement and two bracelets, in April 2011 at a price of € 311.00 from a known dealer in Switzerland who was not involved in this review.

 Dopo svariati mesi dall'acquisto di questo bel prodotto, posso dire che è stato fedele compagno in svariate attività tra cui:

• il gioco domenicale e tornei;
• varie attività outdoor sia a piedi che in bicicletta;
• la vita quotidiana.

 After several months of using this fine product, I can say it was a faithful companion in various activities including:

• airsoft games and tournaments;
• various outdoor activities on foot or by bike;
• daily life.

Overall I am pleased with the purchase.

 

 L'orologio veste bene e, pur essendo di dimensioni considerevoli, non risulta ingombrante o scomodo.

Entrambe i cinturini in mio possesso sono comodi e stabili. Riservo normalmente il "nato strap" alle attività di gioco ed al trekking: risulta più regolabile e traspirante, di contro lo evito durante il servizio in ambulanza, per questioni igieniche, e per le attività in acqua. Durante la vita quotidiana, tengo normalmente il cinturino in gomma soprattutto per scelta estetica; il cinturino in gomma, se non stretto eccessivamente, non presenta comunque problemi di traspirabilità nelle attività che non richiedono importante impegno fisico, mentre lo trovo un po' "soffocante" per attività impegnative.

La leggibilità è risultata eccellente sia alla luce che al buio, salvo forse per l'illuminazione della lancetta dei secondi che ha un inserto al trizio veramente minimale, ma d'altro canto l'unico uso che faccio di quella lancetta è nel prendere il polso ai pazienti durante il soccorso in ambulanza e ciò difficilmente avviene nell'oscurità completa.

Nota positiva dell'illuminazione è che risulta ben ponderata, in particolare rispetto a quella della bussola Cammenga H3 che risulta veramente un faro nella notte.

 

 The clock fits well, although oversize, is not cumbersome or uncomfortable.

Both the straps in my possession are comfortable and stable. Normally I use the "NATO strap" in airsoft activities and for trekking cause it's more breathable and adjustable, counter I avoid it while on duty in ambulance, for reasons of hygiene, and for water activities. During everyday life, normally I keep the rubber strap especially for aesthetic reasons. The rubber strap, if not too closely set, does not present problems of breathability in activities that do not require significant physical effort, but I find it a little '"suffocating" for demanding tasks.

The readability is excellent also in daytime then in darkness, except perhaps for the l second hand that has a tritium insert very minimal, but on the other hand, the only use I make of that hand is taking the patient pulse during rescue and this hardly happens in complete darkness. Another positive note is that the T25 system is well thought out, especially compared to my compass (Cammenga H3) one, that is truly a beacon in the night.

 

 

 L'uso in gioco ed in spiaggia ha dimostrato che le tolleranze di fissaggio della ghiera sono ridotte al minimo, in modo tale da evitare che granelli di sabbia o detriti si infilino sotto la ghiera inceppandone il movimento.

Sotto il profilo tattico, so che alcuni criticano il vetro zaffiro a causa dei riflessi che genera se illuminato e la cassa in metallo per il maggior rischio di tintinnii rispetto alle casse in materiali plastici; dal canto mio non rinuncerei assolutamente alla resistenza ai graffi offerti dal vetro zaffiro, visto l'uso intensivo che faccio dell'orologio, si noti che le foto della recensioni sono state realizzate dopo mesi di utilizzo e si possono notare alcuni segni sulla ghiera esterna dovuti a urti e sfregamenti vari mentre il vetro è perfetto come uscito dalla scatola. Medesimo discorso per la cassa in metallo: l'orologio che vedete ha subito urti importanti che avrebbero segnato profondamente una cassa in materiale plastico, cavandosela invece con leggerissimi segni appena visibili sulla superficie del metallo.

 

 The use in play and on the beach showed that the tolerance of the bezel are minimized, so as to prevent grains of sand or debris get jammed under the besel movement.

In terms of tactics, I read some critics to sapphire crystals that generates reflections and to metal cases for the increased risk of ringing compared to plastics cases. For my part, I do not to give up to absolute scratch resistance offered by the sapphire crystal, since I intensive use watches. Note that the photos of the review have been taken after months of use and you can see some marks on the bezel due to various shocks and frictions while the glass is perfect as a left the box. Same goes for the metal case: i say again, this watch suffered shocks that would have profoundly marked a box of plastic, but with titanium case it had very light signs, barely visible on the metal surface.

 

 Peraltro durante il gioco io preferisco indossare l'orologio sull'interno del polso, questa posizione assolve varie funzioni:

• riduce la possibilità di urto dell'orologio;
• permette la lettura del quadrante anche a replica imbracciata;
• evita il problema dei riflessi;
• eviti di bagnarti se ti chiedono l'ora quando hai il bicchiere in mano ;-)

 However during the game I prefer to wear the watch on the inside of the wrist, this position performs various functions:

• reduces the possibility of a collision;
• allows the reading of the dial also while holding your AEG in fire or hunting position ;
• avoids the problem of reflections;
• avoid getting wet if someone ask you the time when you have a filled glass in your hand ;-)

As for the mechanics, I have nothing to object about the automatic recharging or the precision of the movement:charge is retained even if the night I put the watch on the bedside table and I had to manually load it only at delivery; it happens to have to make a small time correction when setting the date for months with less that 31 days, but having to do it once every two months is tolerable for me.
