I Vampiri vanno di moda in questo periodo e il fatto non è scappato alla Surefire che ha messo in commercio la M952 Vampire, qui presente nella sua replica della Element (eM952V).
The Vampires are fashionable in this period and the Surefire has caught this situation producing the M952 Vampire, here in the Element Replica version (eM952V).
La M952V Surefire nasce dalla necessità di avere nella stessa torcia sia un'illuminatore tattico che un illuminatore IR per operazioni notturne.
La replica oggetto di questa recensione, invece, non ricalca l'originale, se non esteticamente, non avendo questa la funzione IR.
The SF M952V was born for the need to have a tactical flashlight and a IR illuminator in the same tool.
Thi replica is only the aestethic replica of the M952V because this haven't the IR illuminator and it's replaced by a stroboscopic light.
La confezione include la torcia, il comando remoto, due pezzi di Velcro per fissare il tasto ed un foglio con le istruzioni. The box includes the flashlight, the remote switch , two pieces of Velcro and the user manual.
LA TORCIA
La eM952V è una torcia dedicata principalmente (e direi, quasi esclusivamente) al gioco del softair.
La sua lunghezza è di 16cm. Per un peso di 232gr. (2 batterie CR123A incluse).
Analizziamo nel dettaglio la torcia.
La testa della torcia, vero elemento caratterizzante, racchiude il LED CREE da 190 lumens con lente focalizzata ed il sistema per la sezione dell'illumazione IR (Strobo light nella replica).
Difatti per questa replica dedicata al gioco, con il sicuro fine di ridurre i costi, è stata sostituita la vera innovazione della SF M952, ovvero, la funziona di illuminatore IR, al posto del quale è stata inserita una illuminazione stoboscopisca a flash molto veloce, la cua reale utilità è fortemente in dubbio.
THE FLASHLIGHT
The eM952V is a flashlight dedicated (almost exclusively) to the airsoft game.
It's 16cm. long and its weight is 223gr, 2 x CR123A batteries included.
The head of the flashlight, the real characteristic element, includes a 190 lumens LED CREE with a focuses lens and the IR illuminator (Strobelight in this replica).
In fact this replica for the airsoft, with the idea of reducing the price, has been produced without the IR illuminator, the real innovation of the SF M952V replacing it with a very fast strobe flash with a usefulness is really in dubt.

La selezione delle due modalità è molto semplice: è sufficiente trazionare la ghiera zigrinata posta alla base della testa della torcia e ruotarla in senso orario per la funzione “flashlight” ed in senso antiorario per lo strobo.
Ad indicare visivamente la modalità inserita, è presente un triangolo rovesciato che punta verso l'indicazione IR (strobo) o verso la scritta “WHITE” (flashlight).
To select the way of use is very easy: you have only to pull the gripping metal ring at the base of the fashlight head and turn it clockwise for the flashlight use and anticlockwise for the stobe light.
To show you the option selected, there's a reverse triangle pointing to IR (strobe) or to “WHITE” (flashlight).
Sul metallo sono riportate alcune scritte derivanti dal modello reale, ovvero, KM3 (il nome del modello SureFire della testa della torcia) e i marchi dei test CE e FCC (Federal Comunications Commition). Ovviamente l'indicazione “KM3” non è reale e, suppongo, neanche quella CE-FCC. On the head there are the marks of the real flashlight: KM3 (the name of the head SF model) and CE and FCC (Federal Comunications Commition). Obviously the KM3 mark is not real, so I suppose the CE/FCC ones.

Il punto di congiunzione con il corpo della torcia è protetto da un sottile o-ring di buona qualità. The junction point with the body of the flashlight is protected by a small good quality o-ring.

Il corpo della torcia rappresenta il “contenitore” delle batterie ed il supporto per l'ancoraggio del sistema di aggancio alle slitte da 20mm.
Di particolare vi è da notare il marchio “Surefire A187195”: all'arrivo questo campione presentava una “passata” di pennarello nero indelebile sopra questa scritta che, comunque, rimaneva perfettamente leggibile. Un singolo passaggio con un batuffolo di cotone imbevuto d'alcool ha eliminato il colore nero semi-coprente.
The flashlight body is the batteries box and the throw lever clamp system support.
I want to underline the “Surefire A187195” mark: when this sample arrived to me it had this mark covered by permanent marker but it was observable anyway. A single way out with cotton wool wet with alcohol is enough to clear the mark.

Sulla parte opposta alla scritta troviamo invece il sistema di aggancio che presenta anch'esso il marchi SF “Surefire M93 us patent pending” ai quali è stato fatto lo stesso trattamento “coprente”. On the other side from the SF mark there's the throw-lever clamp system with SF marks “Surefire M93 us patent pending” covered in the same way.
Il sistema di aggancio alle slitte Weaver da 20mm. è del tipo a leva. Purtroppo il sistema di sgancio della leva con pressione del pulsante sovrastante è una replica non funzionante e questo mette a rischio di distacco durante il gioco.
E' possibile regolare la forza di presa del sistema sulla slitta, agendo sulla brugola posta alla base della leva. Al primo utilizzo è stato indispensabile regolarla dato che non il sistema di aggancio non era in grado di tenere in linea la torcia.
The clamp system is a throw-lever clamp system. Unfortunately the safety system of the throw lever is a dummy one so it's not so hard to loose your flashlight.
It's possible to adjust the clamp force on the Weaver rail working on the allen on the base of the lever. At the first use it was indispensable to adjust the allen bacuse the clamp system could not fix the flashlight on the rail.

Il sistema di aggancio può essere rimosso agendo sulle due brugole sottostante, più grandi rispetto a quella di regolazione. The throw-lever clamp system could be removed unscrewing the two allens in the lower side, bigger than the adjusting one.
Passiamo ora al fondello, vero punto critico di questa replica.
Il fondello ospita il pulsante di accensione e il meccanismo di aggancio del pulsante remoto, di cui parleremo separatamente.
Prima, però, è necessaria una premessa: se, nella prima parte della recensione, vi foste domandati il
perchè di quei segni, incisioni, sul fondello...eccovi la risposta.
Going to the tailcap, the real bad point of this replica.
The tailcap includes the on/off button and the engage system for the remote switch.
First of all we need to make a preliminary: if in the first parte of the review you have asked yourself the meaning of the scratches and marks on the tailcap, here's the answer.
Volendo provare a fondo questa torcia in ogni suo particolare, mi sono cimentato nello smontaggio del fondello, tramite la vite interna, posta a ritegno della molla di contatto con le batterie.
Purtroppo, o per fortuna vostra, questo mi ha permesso di scoprire un grosso bug di progettazione: alla vite in questione è saldato un piccolo cavo elettrico che mette in contatto le batterie con il tasto, attraverso il contatto con la molla.
Svitando questa vite, cosa non poi così strana o “impossibile”, si danneggia in maniera “quasi” irrimediabile la torcia e la si rende del tutto inutilizzabile.
Nel tentativo di ripristinare questo danno, ho tentato in numerosi modi di disassemblare il fondello, arrivando ad utilizzare un martello ed un cacciavite come piede di porco.
Dopo molti tentativi sono riuscito a sganciare il tasto di accensione, agendo (per tentativi) sulla sua ghiera di ritenzione in plastica che era stata incollata.
Un volta smontato il tasto, avrete in mano solo qualche cavetto elettrico di dimensioni piuttosto ridotta e sarà facile risaldare il polo sulla vite, riavvitarla e richiudere il pulsante.
Quindi, se dovesse succedervi questo problema, non cercate di agire sull'apertura “fisica” del fondello ma agite sulla piccola ghiera in plastica che tiene bloccato il tasto e la copertura in gomma.
Wanting to test hard this flashlight in all its components, I tried to disassemble the tailcap unscrewing the internal screw that fix the spring in contact with the batteries.
Unfortunately, or for your luky, this let me know a big planning bug: on the screw, in the internal side, is soldered a small electric cable that connect the batteries with the on/off button, through the internal spring.
Unscrewing that screw, not a strange or impossibile event for a normal user, you will damage your flashlight broken that connection and the flashlight won't work anymore...but maybe not.
Trying to repair the damage I tryied in a lot of ways to disassemble the tailcap coming up to use an hammer and a screwdriver as a crowbar.
After many attempts I manged to remove the on/off button, acting on the ring that fix the rubber grip cover of the button.
Once you diassemble the button you will have in your hand some small electric cables and you will be able to re-solder the cable on the screw, re-screw it and close the button cover.
So, if you will have this problem, don't try to diassembly the tailcap but try to remove the plastic ring that fix the button and its rubber cover.
Restando in tema, il pulsante utilizzato per questa torcia non risulta adatto all'indirizzo d'uso della stessa. Infatti, il tasto non permette un'accensione temporanea della torcia ma funziona come le comuni torce domestiche funzionando come switch on-off.
Ad aggravare questa situazione (che obbliga a cliccare una volta per accendere ed un'altra per spegnere), c'è il fatto che il tasto chiude il circuito solo al suo rilascio, per cui, cliccando il pulsante e tenendolo premuto, la torcia rimarrà spenta.
Come è facile capire, questo risulta un grosso limite all'uso tattico della torcia.
Staying on the button, the one used on this flashlight is not appropriate for tactical use because it doesn't allow a temporary on and it works only as a on/off switch.
To aggravate this situation, there's the problem that the button closes the circuit only when you will release your press on it, so, pushing and holding it pushed the flashlight doesn't work.
As you can image this is a big trouble for the tactical use of this flashlight.
Passando al sistema di accensione remota, questo funziona bene e sembra ben costruito. L'accensione è temporanea solo alla pressione dello switch.
Il sistema di aggancio non riproduce il sistema a baionetta anti-sgancio involontario installato sulle SureFire ma utilizza un connettore filettato.
Going to the remote switch, this works well and seems to be well done.
It allows temporary on pushing and holding it pushed.
The engage system is not the same as the Surefire one but it's made by a screwed connector.
Il fondello non funziona come sistema “sicura” alla non accensione perchè, anche se ruotato di mezzo giro, se spinto da dietro permette l'accensione. The tailcap doesn't work as a safety off system because even if you turn it one round the connection will remain working.
PROVA SUL CAMPO
Il test è durato circa 4 mesi sia nel gioco diurno che notturno.
La torcia è stabile e resistente: l'uso sconsiderato della stessa per 4 mesi ha prodotto solo qualche piccolo graffio sulla testa, segno di una “brunitura” piuttosto resistente.
Punto negativo, uno dei pochi ma molto invalidante, è rappresentato dal pulsante di accensione, assolutamente non adatto ad un utilizzo tattico per il suo funzionamento tecnico che prevede di dover premere e rilasciare il pulsante per azionare la torcia e la totale impossibilità di un'accensione temporanea con una pressione più soft.
La luce emessa è molto forte e bianchissima: 190 lumens con un cono di luce molto ristretto.
TEST ON FIELD
The test was 4 months long in day and night games.
The flashlight is well fixed and strong: a very hard use has produced only minor scratches on the flashlight head and this means that the burnishing is very well done.
A bad point, one of the few but very important, is the on/off button that is not appropriate for a tactical use due its function and the need of push and release the button to switch on the flashlight in constant mode. The temporary on is not allowed.
The light power is very high: 190 lumens with a very focused light beam.

A 70 metri con luce lunare e luna a ¾ – At 70 meters with moonlight and ¾ of moon

Come si può vedere, il fascio è veramente molto concentrato e, anche se questa è una caratteristica indispensabile per una torcia tattica, reputo che il cono di questa torcia sia accessivamente piccolo rendendola quasi inutilizzabile in ambiente urbano. As you can see the light beam is very focused and it's an important feature for a tactical flashlight but this flashlight has a too small light beam so you can't use this flashlight is small urban fields.
Nella foto sopra si può osservare il problema accennato in precendenza: il cono di luce estramente concentrato e la grande potenza della torcia, rende uniformemente bianco tutto l'illuminato già ad una distanza di poco superiore ai 10 metri (come nell'esempio sopra). In the picture above you can see the problem of over-lighting: the light beam is too focused and the big power covers all under the light in 10 meters. La torcia è completamente stagna grazie alle guarnizioni di cui è dotata, tanto da resistere all'immersione per circa mezzora in 1 metro e mezzo d'acqua.
Solo il tasto posteriore e il sistema di aggancio del pulsante remoto, nonostante la buona tenuta dimostrata, mi lasciano perplesso sulla resistenza sulla lunga distanza.
The flashlight is completely waterproof thank to the gaskets so it can resist to an immersion under 1,5 m for 30 minutes.
I think that only the on/off button and the engage system for the remote switch could have waterproof problems even if they had not.
Infine, ho individuato un punto debole riguardo il sistema di aggancio alle slitte Weaver: essendo il sistema di sicurezza di blocco della leva una replica non funzionante, il rischio di sgancio in gioco è reale.
Per questo motivo ritengo sia sufficiente utilizzare un anello in gomma preso da una camera d'aria di bicicletta che, bloccando la rotazione della leva, impedisce lo sgancio.
In the end I have found a weak point in the throw-lever clamp: the safety lock for the lever is dummy so you can loose the flashlight.
For this reason I think could be enough a rubber ring took from a byke tube that could lock the lever.
CONCLUSIONI
La torcia è bella, ben rifinita ed è una copia fedele (esteticamente) della SureFire M952V.
I “problemi” si manifestano, però, una volta messa in funzione: il primo problema risulta essere il pulsante di accensione con il suo meccanismo di contatto a sgancio e l'impossibilità di essere usato per l'illuminazione temporanea.
Altro potenziale problema è rappresentato dalla facilità di sgancio della leva di aggancio alla slitta Weaver, risolvibile nel modo sopra descritto.
Da sottolineare la possibilità di utilizzare batterie CR123A anche di 3,7 V a differenza delle torce ad incandescenza. Cosa piuttosto rilevante vista la possibilità di utilizzare batterie ricaricabili da 3,7V ed il costo delle CR123A “monouso”.

CONCLUSIONS
The flashlight is nice, well finished and it's a true copy (aesthetic) of the M952V SureFire.
The “problems” start when you will run the flashlight: the first problem is the on/off button with its contact mechanism and the impossibility to be used for a temporary lighting.
Another “problem” could be the easy detachment of the flashlight from your “weapon” but you can easily resolve it in the way I told.
I want to underline that the flashlight can use 3,7 V CR123A batteries (2X) so you can use rechargeable ones.
