I Sawfly vanno a completare il folto catalogo di maschere di protezione balistica della Revision, al fianco dei già testati e recensiti Desert Locust e Bullet ANT.

Il kit in oggetto è il “Military kit” e contiene, oltre alla montatura:
-due lenti con rispettivo supporto per il naso in tinta (Clear e Smoke);
-una custodia morbida con funzione anche di panno pulente;
-una custodia più grande dotata di gancio in plastica e di due passanti sul retro per l'aggancio alla cintura;
-un manualetto d'istruzioni.

La caratteristica principale di questi occhiali è, ovviamente, la resistenza agli urti e agli oggetti sparati ad alta velocità, come schegge e proiettili.
Gli standard rispettati sono il “classico” ANZI Z87.1 (i cui valori di riferimento vengono migliorati di ben tre volte) e le varie specifiche militari, tali da essere autorizzati dall' U.S. Army.

Considerato il detto che “un gesto vale più di mille parole”, abbiamo deciso di affidare ogni considerazione inerente alla resistenza balistica, ad un video prodotto dalla stessa Revision, dove vengono eseguiti, in modo piuttosto spettacolare, i test di resistenza.

The Sawfly glasses complete the thick Revision catalogue about balistic protection goggles, near to the already reviewed Desert Locust and Bullet ANT.

This kit is the “Military kit” and includes, apart the frame:
-two lenses with their nose support each (Clear and Smoke);
-a soft box you can use to clear your glasses;  
-a bigger pouch you can use to carry the glasses and the lens (it has loops for belt-support and a plastic hook to attach it on the backpack);
-an instruction manual

The main feature of this glasses are, obviously, the hurt and balistic resistance.
The lenses can support ANZI Z87.1 tests (with 3 times better values) and respects Military Requirements.

Considering that “an act is better that one thousand words” we have decided to entrust all the consideration about the balistic resistance to a very interesting video by Revision.




Occupiamoci ora del lato puramente tecnico ed estetico dei Sawfly.

Maneggiando questi occhiali la sensazione è di robustezza: nessun gioco tra le parti e sulle astine, nessuno scricchiolio.
La Revision indica la possibilità di averli in taglia “extra-large” per teste di dimensioni importanti.

Let's go to talk about the technical and aesthetic side of this glasses.

Handling the Sawfly the sesation is of very sturdiness: no un-wanted movements between moving parts, no one creaking.
They are available in a “Extra-Large” size for big heads.






Il sistema di ingaggio della lente è decisamente valido, confrontato per esempio con un paio di occhiali molto simili, prodotti dalla BodySpec.
Infatti, la lente non rimane agganciata alla montatura (disponibile nelle colorazioni BLACk, FOLIAGE e TAN) solo tramite l'attrito esercitato dagli incavi della montatura stessa sulla lente ma viene agganciata tramite due “perni” laterali ed infine fissata al centro, questa volta tramite attrito.
Questo sistema risulta molto efficace ed efficiente, tale da non averci mai dato la sensazione che la lente potesse accidentalmente staccarsi, cosa invece avvenuta realmente durante un utilizzo intensivo del modello di paragone prodotto dalla BodySpec di cui parleremo in altra sede.

The lens engage system is very good compared with some other balistic glasses like BodySpec.
The lens doesen't stay in position only thanks to the grip inside the frame but thanks to two pivots of the lens that engage the frame in the sides. In the end the lens lock itself on the frame in the middle thanks to the grip.
This system is very usefull and safe and we never had problems with the lens position as we had with BodySpec (about that we will talk about in future).





Come già detto, le lenti in dotazione, per il kit “Military”, sono due: Clear e Smoke (la lente gialla “High contrast” non è presente in quanto non autorizzata dall'US Army).
Le lenti, prodotte in Policarbonato, sono prive di distorsioni d'immagine in ogni angolazione di visuale e sono in grado di filtrare il 100% dei raggi UV-A/UV-B/UV-C

La Revision per i Sawfly ha optato per una ritenzione ad elastico, molto comoda e versatile che permette di portare gli occhiali al collo, sulla fronte o in posizione con sicurezza e sempre alla giusta tensionatura, grazie al sistema di regolazione e alle caratteristiche intrinseche dell'elastico.

As we said, the lenses included in the Military Kit are two: Clear and Smoke (the High Contrast Yellow lens is not included because not authorized by the US Army).
The lenses are made in Polycarbonate and are image distorsions free and offer 100% protection against UV-A / UV-B / UV-C rays.

The Revision has choose a black elastic as retention system: it's very comfortable and usefull and you can safely carry the glasses around your neck, on your forehear or in right position.




Le astine sono morbide e non troppo curvate all'interno da poter dare problemi nell'utilizzo a lungo termine. Le stesse sono anche dotate di un sistema di regolazione che permette di allungarle, rendendo il porto confortevole alla maggior parte delle taglie.

The arms are soft and not too curved to the internal so they don't make troubles also during long term use. The arms has a regulation system you can use to increase the comfort, extending or shorting them.




I Sawfly sono predisposti per l'alloggiamento interno di lenti graduate tramite supporto opzionale acquistabile separatamente.

The Sawfly allows Rx internal carrier for prescription lenses (optional).

SENSAZIONI D'UTILIZZO – USE FEELING

I Sawfly sono veramente molto confortevoli nel porto anche prolungato, sia con lente chiara per il gioco o il poligono, sia con la lente scura per le stesse attività o come occhiali da sole per il tempo libero.
Il supporto per il naso è fisso sulle lenti ed in tinta con esse. E' costruito in materiale siliconico morbido al tatto ma dotato di un forte grip al fine di garantire una presa efficace anche in situazioni in cui vi sia un'abbondante sudorazione o sotto la pioggia.

The Sawfly are very comfortable also during long term use, both with Clear lens for the game or shooting range and Smoke one for the same activities or outdoor.
The nose support is fixed on each lens with the same color. It's in silicone material, soft but with high grip.




I punti negativi riscontrati su questi occhiali sono stati sostanzialmente due.
Il primo si tratta della forte angolatura della montatura che determina il suo incontro con lo sguardo ai livelli supero-esterno (cioè guardando verso l'alto a verso il fuori) nonostante gli occhiali siano indossati correttamente.
Questa sensazione di “oggetto estraneo” ai lati superiori del campo visivo risulta piuttosto fastidiosa.
Il secondo è l'eccessiva, a nostro avviso, distanza tra l'occhiale e il viso, quindi la poca inclinazione posteriore della lente. Questo agevola sicuramente il passaggio d'aria e la fuoriuscita dell'umidità riducendo l'appannamento (evento peraltro mai riscontrato con questo paio di occhiali, nonostante l'uso piuttosto intensivo) ma determina anche uno spazio laterale privo di protezione, eccessivo rispetto alle necessità di un giocatore di softair.
NB. nonostante noi si reputi indispensabili l'utilizzo di maschere adeguate (goggles) per la pratica del Softair comprensive di protezioni per il viso, è innegabile che sui campi da gioco si incontrino, molto frequentemente, giocatori più “disinvolti” che decidono di indossare unicamente occhiali balistici come i Sawfly.

The negative points of this glasses are two:
the first is the too high angle or curvature of the frame you could see in your sight view is you look up and side, left or righ.
This feeling of “unidentified object” in your view sight is very annoying.
The second is the too big distance between lens and face. This is very usefull for hot air and umidity exit (we had not fog problems at all during our tests) but it's dangerous for who decides to use to play airsoft (we suggest to use safety goggles and face protections).





Teniamo a precisare che, a nostro avviso, i Sawfly risultano degli occhiali con un livello di protezione piuttosto alto quindi, quanto sopra scritto, difatto non risulta imputabile né agli occhiali né alla loro progettazione, non essendo il loro uso destinato alla pratica del Softair.

We think the Sawfly are glasses with a good protection level but we think they're not made for airsoft players too.

CONCLUSIONI

I Sawfly rappresentano un occhiale balistico con alto livello di protezione.
Le rifiniture, l'assemblaggio e i materiali utilizzati sono tutti al top di gamma, indice di quanto velocemente la Revision si sia imposta sul mercato mondiale.
Ottimi per il poligono o per il tempo libero, li reputiamo non indicati per la pratica del Softair, sia perchè non reputiamo gli “occhiali in genere” uno strumento di protezione efficace, sia perchè, nel caso specifico, le geometrie della lente consentono fessure di un certo rilievo tra viso e lente, permettendo quindi un agile passaggio di proietti di qualunque genere.

CONCLUSIONS

The Sawfly are a high level balist protection glasses.
The finishes, assembling and the materials used are all at the top and this tell us about the fast diffusion of the Revision products worldwide.
Good for shooting range or for outdoor activities, we think they're not made to play airsoft, both because we think that the glasses are not a safety protection tool for airsoft and because the Sawfly has an agolature of the lenses that allows the crossing of flying object through the space between lens and face.
