MEU (SOC), che cosa significa?
MEU (SOC), what does this mean?


Per esteso, l'acronimo si riferisce alla Marine Expeditionary Unit(Special Operations Capable); ed è il reparto utilizzato dall'USMC per i suoi interventi in qualsiasi area, essendo formato da una componente terrestre ed una aerea, oltre alle strutture logistiche e di comando, e potendo essere interamente trasportato a bordo di una sola unità navale.

Full, the acronym refers to the Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable), and it is the epartment used by USMC for its operations in any area, being formed by an air and land component, as well as logistics and command structures, and could being fully carried on a single naval unit.


La componente terrestre a sua volta è composta da:
- un Battalion Landing Team (BLT), ossia un battaglione di fanteria rinforzato da una batteria di artiglieria, un plotone di Veicoli d'Assalto anfibi, una compagnia di blindati da ricognizione, un plotone carri, un plotone esploratori, ed eventualmente altre componenti legate alla natura della missione. Il BLT si compone di circa 1200 unità.
- una Maritime Special Purpose Force, derivata dal plotone esploratori del BLT, e formata da un plotone d'assalto, un plotone di sicurezza, una componente di ricognizione e sorveglianza, e una sezione comando. La MSPF conta circa 350 marines e marinai.
La MSPF assolve a due tipi di missioni speciali, convenzionalmente definiti operazioni verdi (green ops) e nere (black ops). Le Green Ops comportano ricognizioni a lungo raggio, in cui viene accuratamente evitato ogni contatto con l'avversario, mentre le Black Ops sono azioni offensive. Nella realtà, il personale impegnato in una missione stealth può ritrovarsi improvvisamente chiamato a compiere una "azione nera". Per questa ragione, la MSPF è rinforzata da elementi delle Force Recon Companies, la componente per missioni speciali dell'USMC.

The land component in turn comprises:
- A Battalion Landing Team (BLT), or an infantry battalion reinforced with an artillery battery, a platoon of amphibious assault vehicles, an armored reconnaissance company, a tank platoon, a scout platoon, and possibly other related components, depending from the nature of the mission. The BLT consists of about 1200 units.
- A Maritime Special Purpose Force, derived from the platoon of BLTs scouts, and consisting of an assault platoon, a security platoon, a component of reconnaissance and surveillance, and a command section.
The MSPF has about 350 Marines and sailors.
The MSPF performs two types of special missions, conventionally defined green and black ops. The Green Ops involves long-range reconnaissance, in which it is carefully avoided any contact with the enemy, while the Black Ops are offensive action. In reality, the staff engaged in a stealth mission may find themselves suddenly called upon to perform a black op. For this reason, MSPF is reinforced by elements of the Force Recon Companies, the component for special missions of USMC.

La componente aerea a sua volta riunisce velivoli da combattimento a decollo verticale e ad ala rotante, oltre alle necessarie componenti logistiche ed operative.
La struttura logistica include i servizi sanitari, la polizia militare,ed ogni altra componente di supporto per la MEU.
Il Comando della MEU infine provvede al coordinamento delle tre componenti descritte, ed anche alle comunicazioni, alle attività di intelligence.
Attualmente, sono operative sette MEU: tre basate nella costa atlantica e tre in quella pacifica degli Stati Uniti, ed una in Giappone.

The air component in turn combines vertical takeoff fighter aircraft and rotorcraft, as well as the necessary logistical and operational components.
The logistic structure includes health services, military police, and any other support component for the MEU.
Finally, the MEU Command coordinates the three components described, as well as suignal and intelligence.
Currently there are seven MEU operational: three of wich based on the Atlantic coast, three in the U.S. Pacific, and one in Japan.

La Pistol, Caliber .45, MEU(SOC) semiautomatica è dal 1985 assegnata in dotazione ad alcuni elementi delle MEU, essendo stata ritenuta la Beretta M9 non sufficientemente affidabile e letale per le missioni speciali di cui la MEU è incaricata.

In realtà, la designazione può essere affidata ad almeno tre armi diverse, basate comunque sulla 1911A1 Automatic Pistol.
Quando l'USMC decise di acquisire un'arma in calibro .45, basata sulla 1911, esaminando quanto offriva il mercato, e quali erano i risultati operativi, individuò (sulla scorta delle positive valutazioni offerte dalla polizia di LosAngeles) il miglior candidato immediatamente disponibile nella semiautomatica prodotta dalla Kimber Industries, che produsse un numero limitato di Interim Close Quarters Battle pistols (ICQB ). Queste armi esteriormente non si discostavano molto dalla classica M1911, ed erano dotate di torce SureFire Integrated Military Pistol Light (IMPL), scine Dawson Precision rail, corrreggioli Gemtech TRL Tactical Retention Lanyards, fondine Safariland 6004 modificate, guanciole Simonich G-10 Gunner Grips,e caricatori Wilson Combat's '47D' da 8 colpi. Le mire originali furono sostituite con quelle Tritium Novak LoMount sights.
Altre armi erano assemblate in seno allo stesso USMC, dalla Precision Weapons Section, MCBQ di Quantico, partendo da fusti di armi 1911A1 delle ultime serie prodotte (per interci, fabbricati al più tardi attorno al 1945) abbinati a componenti commerciali. Ogni arma è stata rifinita individualmente, ed ha una vita stimata di 10.000 colpi(tenendo presente che in un ciclo di formazione al tiro ogni allievo ne spara circa 8.000).
Raggiunto questo livello d'uso, le pistole sono restituite alla PWS,che controlla lo stato del fusto, e sostituisce ogni altro componente.

As a matter of fact, the designation may be assigned to at least three diverse weapons, however, based on 1911A1 Automatic Pistol.
When the USMC decided to acquire a weapon in .45 caliber, based on 1911, considering what the market offered, and what were operational results, identified (on the basis of positive assessments offered by Los Angeles police) the best immediately available candidate in the semiautomatic produced by Kimber Industries, which produced a limited number of Interim Close Quarters Battle (ICQB) pistols.
These weapons outwardly not much different from the classic M1911, and were equipped with SureFire Integrated Military Pistol Light (IMPL) flashlights , Seine Dawson Precision rail, Gemtech TRL Tactical Retention Lanyards, modified 6004 Safariland holsters, Simonich Gunner Grips G-10, and Wilson Combat's 47D 8 shots magazines. The original sights were replaced with lowmount Novak Tritium sights.
Other weapons were assembled by the same USMC in its Precision Weapons Section, MCBQ Quantico, starting from the weapons frames of the last 1911A1 series produced (clearly speaking, manufactured at the latest around 1945) combined with commercial components. Each weapon was treated individually, and has an estimated life of 10,000 rounds (considering that in a training program to each student shot about 8.000).
Reached this level of use, the guns are returned to the PWS, which controls the state of the barrel, and replaces any other component.







Queste armi "fatte in casa" hanno avuto almeno due allestimenti.
Il primo prevede:
- cane alleggerito del tipo installato sulle Commander
- grilletto stile Videcki in alluminio, alleggerito da tre fori, tarato per uno scatto fra le 4 e le 4 1/2 libbre (da 1,5 a 2 chilogrammi)
- canna da competizione Bar Sto in acciaio inossidabile, con boccola di precisione per l'allineamento alla canna
- tacca di mira posteriore fissa realizzata appositamente nell'armeria del corpo,
- sicurezza ambidestra Kings
- sicurezza dorsale tipo Clark
- vano di espulsione maggiorato ed a bordi svasati
- fermo del carrello Ed Brown o Wilson
- imbocco per l'alloggiamento del caricatore svasato
- guancette avvolgenti nere in gomma Pachmayr
- caricatore in acciaio inossidabile con fondello maggiorato
Ogni arma aveva impressi gli ultimi quattro numeri di matricola del fusto sul carrello, sulla canna, sulla sicura dorsale, sull'alloggiamento della molla di recupero, e sulle due leve della sicura manuale.

These homemade weapons it had at least two outfits.
The first one it is:
- Lightweight Commander type hammer
- Videcki style aluminum trigger, lightened by three holes, calibrated for shot between 4 and 4 1 / 2 pounds (1.5 to 2 kg)
- stainless steel competition barrel BarSto, with precision bushing for alignment of the barrel
- Fixed rear sight blade especially made in the Corp armory
- Ambidextrous Kings Safety
- Clark type grip Safety
- ejection port enlarged and smoothed
- Ed Brown or Wilson magazine catch
- enlarged magazine well mouth
-  Pachmayr wrap rubber black grips
-  stainless steel magazine back with enlarged pad
Each weapon had impressed the last four digits of the serial on the frame, on the barrel, the dorsal safety, the hammer spring housing, and the two manual safety levers.

Il secondo modello, rispetto al primo,monta i seguenti componenti:
- cane Ed Brown
- mire Novak blacklow-mount posteriori, e mirino anteriore montato su innesto a coda di rondine.
- sicura dorsale maggiorata Ed Brown Memory Groove
- intagli di presa fresati anche sulla parte anteriore del carrello.
Il carrello era acquistato sul mercato, e certamente sono stati impiegati quelli prodotti dalla Springfield Armoury, cui è stata commissionata anche la produzione di un lotto di armi.

The second model compared to the first, assemble the following components:
- Ed Brown hammer
- rear Novak blacklow-mount sights  and front dovetail coupling mounted sight.
- Ed Brown Memory Groove grip safety
- serration grooves also on the front of the slide.
The slide it was purchased on the market, and certainly were used those produceds by Springfield Armoury, which was also commissioned to produce a lot of weapons.

Un aspetto significativo: questi dettagli non sono ufficiali, ma ricavati da alcuni studi condotti da appassionati, perché di queste armi in effetti si conosce poco.

A significant aspect: these details are not official, but derived from studies conducted by fans, because about these weapons in fact little is known.

Quello che conta è che sono pistole rifinite individualmente a livello quasi sportivo, e fornite ai reparti operativi solo se in grado di mantenere la rosata entro un quadrato con quattro pollici di lato a 25 yarde, ossia dieci centimetri e 22,86 metri. E che sono pensate per uno scopo ben preciso:essere impiegate in combattimento contro il nemico.
Il numero di armi esistenti si aggira sui 2000 esemplari, 500 dei quali distribuiti alle varie unità destinatarie.

Arrivando ai dati, quelli che ho reperito parlano di un peso di 1.140 grammi ad arma scarica, e 1.360 carica; di una lunghezza complessiva di 219,1 millimetri, con canna di127,8 millimetri; di una distanza massima di impiego di 50 metri, per tiratori con addestramento speciale; ed infine di un costo pari a 600 dollari per arma. Ufficialmente, le pistole sono assegnate come seconda arma ai marines armati di mitra 9mm MP5-N Close Quarters Battle weapon.

What matters is that guns are individually crafted almost to match grade, and provided to operational departments who are able to hit within a four inches square at 25 yards, (10 centimeters at 22.86 meters). And which are designed for one purpose: to be used in combat against the enemy.
The number of existing weapons it is about 2000, 500 of which are distributed to the various target units.

Coming to the data, the ones I found reports of a 1.140 grams weight unloaded, and 1,360 loaded, with a total length  of 219, 1 mm, a barrel 27, 8 mm long, a maximum using distance of 50 meters, for shooters with special training, and finally a cost of $ 600 per weapon. Officially, the guns are assigned as a backup weapon the marines armed with machine guns 9mm MP5-N Close Quarters Battle weapon.

E passiamo alla replica della WETTI.

La MEU (SOC) è stata un’arma ben riprodotta nel mondo delle repliche softair, considerando soprattutto lo scarso numero di originali esistenti: ci hanno già pensato la Western Arms, con una replica del primo modello, quindi la Tokio Marui, ed infine la WE-TECH e la SOCOM Gear. Queste tre GBB sono dedicate al secondo modello di MEU originale.
In realtà WETTI e SOCOM GEAR utilizzano per i loro modelli un buon numero di componenti comuni; quest’ultima replica, oltre a costare quasi il doppio, ha il carrello in alluminio.
La WETTI è una società di taiwan, ed ha nel suo listino un buon numero di GBB 1911 e 2011, tutte basate su una stessa meccanica interna, simile ma non uguale alla Tokio Marui.
La MEU (SOC) è una fra le ultime aggiunte, e sembra aver goduto dell’esperienza acquisita con i precedenti prodotti.
Credo quindi sia il caso di descrivere questa organizzazione interna, che si discosta notevolmente dal sistema di chiusura Browning a biella e tenone.


The MEU (SOC) it was a well reproduced weapon in the world of airsoft replicas, especially considering the small number of existing original: we have already the Western Arms, with a replica of the first model, then the Tokyo Marui, and finally WE-TECH and SOCOM Gear. These three are devoted to the original MEU second model.
Actually WETTI and Socom GEAR uses for their models a number of common components, the latter replicas, in addition to almost double price, it has the aluminum slide.
The WETTI it is a Taiwanese company, and has in its list a number of 1911 and 2011 GBB, all based on the same internal components, similar but not identical to the Tokyo Marui.
The MEU (SOC) is one of the latest additions, and seems to have enjoyed the experience with previous products.
So I think it is appropriate to describe this internal organization, which differs significantly from the real steel Browning rod and tenon.







In questa riproduzione, la canna interna ed esterna non sono direttamente connesse; la prima può scorrere per 5 millimetri ed oscillare per 1 millimetro all’interno della seconda.
L’inner barrel è fissata solidamente al fusto dal traversino della leva di hold open, tramite un foro passante ricavato nella sporgenza inferiore, e che si incastra in un apposito alloggiamento; il fatto essenziale è che la canna interna rimane immobile per tutto il ciclo di sparo,mantenendo il suo allineamento col fusto.

La canna esterna è spinta in avanti ed in alto dal carrello, e i due tenoni ricavati sulla sua parte superiore operano il vincolo col carrello stesso.
Quando questo inizia a rinculare, la canna esterna viene fatta oscillare posteriormente verso il basso da un risalto inclinato, sino a liberarsi e ad arrestare il suo moto retrogrado.

Il grosso vantaggio di questo sistema è la precisione, in quanto la canna interna non deve ogni volta riallinearsi con fusto e carrello.
Per quel che ne so, questo è il meccanismo usato su tutte le repliche di armi con chiusura Browning prodotte dalla WETTI, e devo dire che, con un po’ di lubrificante, funziona bene.

In this reproduction, the inner and outer barrel are not directly linked: the first can slide  for 5 mm and swing for 1 mm in the second.
The inner barrel is firmly attached to the frame by hold open rod through a hole carved into the ledge below, and that fits into a special housing, the essential fact is that the inner barrel remains stationary throughout the shooting cycle, maintaining its alignment with the frame.

The outer barrel it is pushed forward and upward from the slide, and two tenons made its top bond with the same slide.
When this begins to recoil, the barrel is swung outside the back down from a projection angle, until free and halt its retrograde motion.

The big advantage of this system is accuracy, because the inner barrel should not align ourselves every time with frame and slide.
As far as I know, this is the mechanism used on all Browning lock system replica weapons produced by WETTI, and I must say, with a little 'lubricant it works well.

Passiamo alla replica, ora.

La confezione non si discosta dallo stile introdotto di recente dalla società taiuanese: scatola di robusto cartone, con una bella immagine della MEU (SOC), ed all’interno un sagomato in polistirolo, ricoperto da tessuto nero.
Una presentazione d’effetto, e che consola per la mancanza di qualsiasi altro accessorio, che non sia il manuale. Decisamente, qualcuno nella ditta cinese ha studiato per bene l’arte del marketing.

The package does not deviate from the style recently introduced by the taiuanese company: a sturdy cardboard box with a beautiful image of the MEU (SOC), and within a molded polystyrene, covered with black fabric.
An effect presentation, that consoled for the lack of any other accessory apart the manual. Definitely, someone in the Chinese firm has thoroughly studied the art of marketing.








Del manuale, dico subito che conta sedici pagine ed è in più lingue (italiano compreso, ma non presente in tutti i capitoli), illustrato dai consueti disegni ed esplosi tecnici; anche qui, la qualità si è alzata, e di molto.


About the manual, I say once that it has sixteen pages and it is written in several languages (including Italian, but not present in all the chapters), illustrated by the usual technical drawings and exploded views, even here, the quality has risen, and many more.




Quello che conta è la replica, e la prima impressione è estremamente gradevole; un po’ per la bellezza dell’originale ben colta, ed un po’ per la finitura nera semiopaca, in cui spiccano unicamente il grilletto argenteo e lo stemma dorato sulle guanciole…. Ma adesso corro troppo.
Intanto, levo subito l’orrido tappo rosso e l’etichetta adesiva con la scritta “Made inTaiwan”;

What counts is the reply, and the first impression is very nice, a bit 'for the well  maintained original beauty, and a bit' for the semi-black finish, in wich are distinguished only the silver trigger and gilt crest on the grips.... But now I run too.

Quindi, mano a bilancia e metro, e vediamo cosa ne esce.
La lunghezza è di 221 millimetri, l’altezza di 142 millimetri, e lo spessore massimo di 37 millimetri; rispetti ai dati noti, un paio di millimetri in più, che non guastano la sagoma, resa bene anche nelle forme.



Then, hands on meter and balance and let's watch what comes out.
The length is 221 mm, height 142 mm, and the maximum thickness of 37 mm; respects to the known data, a few millimeters more, that does not spoil the shape, well made in the forms also.




La finitura generale è buona; non vedo tracce di fusione, sbavature da stampo, impronte di estrattori, ritiri nelle superfici piatte, od altro. La finitura è data da una vernice nera semiopaca, gradevole, ma diversa dal grigio della parkerizzazione che caratterizza le originali. La qualità della pittura è buona, e sembra propensa a resistere bene anche a qualche maltrattamento.

Gli unici marchi presenti sono quelli impressi sulle guanciole: a sinistra in caratteri minuscoli leggo “Pro-Grip WE-TECH Taiwan”, ed a destra “Segnature model pat. 3203.700 1321.012”. Non so quanto vi giochi la fantasia, ma sono tutt’altro che sgradevoli.


The general finish is good, I see no evidence of melting, smudging from mold imprints extractors, retreats into flat surfaces, or otherwise. The finish is black semimatt paint, enjoyable, but different from the gray  that characterizes the original. The quality of painting is good, and seems inclined to resist well to some abuse.

The only markings are printed on the grips: on the left one, in lowercase I  read Pro-Grip WE-TECH Taiwan, and on right Signature model pat. 3203.700 1321.012. I do not know what role plays here fantasy, but all are far from unpleasant.






Fanno buon contrasto, sempre sulle guanciole, due medaglioncini in metallo dorato, con lo stemma dell’USMC, l’EGA, ossia Eagle, Globe and Anchor, delicatamente scolpito.
Detto questo, è il momento di un esame più approfondito.
Parto dal carrello, che nell’originale è prodotto dalla Springfield Armoury. Anche nella replica ci sono gli intagli laterali di presa posteriori ed anteriori, così come le mire modificate.

They make good contrast, always on the grips, two gilded metal medallions, with the arms dell'USMC, the EGA, or Eagle, Globe and Anchor, delicately carved.
That being said, it's time to further examination.
I take the slide, that on the original it is produced by Springfield Armoury. Even in the reply there are serration grips front and rear, as well as  modified sigths.






Il mirino anteriore è a cresta, di generose dimensioni, e dotato di un riferimento bianco per la mira; purtroppo, nel mio esemplare se ne è andato dopo qualche tiro. Niente che un po’ di vernice bianca non possa rimediare, ma una cosa fastidiosa comunque.
Il mirino è fuso integralmente al carrello, e non può essere rimpiazzato se non con un lavoro fatto da mani ben capaci. Attenzione alle cadute, quindi!


The front sight it is a blade of generous size, with a white reference to the aims. Unfortunately, in my sample is gone after a shot. Nothing that a little 'white paint can not fix, but one annoying thing though.
The front sigth it is molded with the slide, and can not be replaced except by a job well done by capable hands. Beware of falling, then!





Le mire posteriori sono del tipo Novak, munite di riferimenti bianchi. Sono fuse a parte e unite al carrello da un incastro a coda di rondine e da una vite che, purtroppo, col tiro tende ad allentarsi; meglio fissarla con frena filetti.
C’è da dire che in caso la perdita si limiterebbe alla vite, perché la mira è tenuta in posizione da un perno passante del gruppo gas.
Fra carrello e fusto c’è un gioco notevole; una sensazione fastidiosa, ma che permette un buon funzionamento, riducendo gli attriti, e non incide sulla precisione della replica.

The rear sights are Novak type, fitted with white references. Separately molded and fixed to slide by a dovetail joint and a screw which, unfortunately, during shots tends to come loose; better secure with thread locker.
By the way, if the loss is confined to the screw, because the sigth it is held in place by a pin passing through the gas group.
Between frame and slide there is a noteworthy space; an uncomfortable feeling, but that allows a smooth operation, reducing friction, and does not affect the accuracy of replica.





Nel carrello si inseriscono due boccole, che alloggiano la molla e l’asta di rinculo, e la canna. Sono entrambe in metallo, ben realizzate, e, a lume di naso, mi sembrano,come il resto di questo modello, fuse con una lega più resistente di quella impiegata sulle prime WETTI.

Inside slide are inserting two bushes, which houses the recoil spring  and spring rod, and barrel. Both are metal, well made, and, rule of thumb, I feel that, like the rest of this model, have been casted with an alloy stronger than that used on the first WETTI




Passo al fusto, che, così come l’originale, è quello standard della 1911 A1, arricchito di tutta una serie di accessori che ne rimuovono parecchi difetti, e che sono ben riprodotti.

Step on the frame, which, like the original, it is a standard 1911 A1, enriched from a range of accessories that remove several errors and are well reproduced.




I comandi della MEU (SOC) sono numerosi; sicura dorsale, sicura manuale, leva dell’hold open e traversino di smontaggio, grilletto, pulsante per il fermo del caricatore.

The commands of the MEU (SOC) are numerous; grip safety, manual safety lever, hold open and disassembly latch, trigger,  magazine release button.





La sicura dorsale automatica è del tipo a coda di castoro, maggiorata e modificata nella sagoma, al fine di consentire una presa più alta, e ridurre il rilevamento causato dal rinculo.
Questa sicura è dotata di un apposito alloggiamento, che accoglie il cane armato.


The automatic grip safety is a beaver tail type, increased and changed in shape, to allow an higher grip, and lower detection caused by recoil.
This safe is equipped with a special housing, which receives the cocked hammer.




La sicura manuale è maggiorata, ed ambidestra; si inserisce, e soprattutto si sblocca, molto facilmente. Questo non fa della MEU un’arma per mancini, perché l’hold open e il pulsante del fermo caricatore (che non mutano rispetto alla 1911 A1) non sono reversibili.
Il grilletto è in metallo chiaro, con l’arco d’appoggio per il dito ben zigrinato, molto bello anche esteticamente.

The safety is increased, and ambidextrous. It  fits, and especially unlocks very easily. This not turn the MEU into a left handed shooter weapon, because the hold open and magazine release button (which do not change compared to 1911 A1) are not reversible.
The trigger it is light metal, with the finger support arch well knurled, very nice aesthetically.







Le guanciole sono del tipo avvolgente, con risalti anatomici laterali, e realizzate in materiale gommoso come le Patchmair originali (anche se ovviamente di qualità diversa), si impugnano bene, e offrono la giusta sensazione.

The grip panels are of the wrap type , with the side anatomical raises, and are made by rubbery material as the original Patchmair (though obviously a different quality), you are challenging well, and have the right feel.






Ultima nota, l’anello metallico posto in fondo all’impugnatura, a cui fissare il correggiolo, e che nell’originale è del tipo a cavo spiralato, fissato alla cinta.

Last, the metal ring at the bottom of the handle, which set the lanyard, and that on the original it is pigtail type, fixed to the belt.




Il caricatore è monofilare, con capacità di 15 pallini; è realizzato quasi completamente in metallo, e verniciato in color argento. Come l’originale ha un pad in plastica nera alla base; questo obbliga ad impiegare bombole di gas con ugello lungo per il rifornimento.

The magazine it is single stacked, with a capacity of 15 BB. It is made almost entirely of metal, and painted silver. Like the original it has a black plastic pad. This requires to use gas cylinders with long nozzle for refueling.





In realtà, credo in ottica di razionalizzazione della produzione, le repliche WETTI della 1911 e dei suoi derivati hanno due tipi di caricatore: il mofilare da 15 pallini, ed il bifilare da 25 usato sulla serie HI Capa, e che è disponibile anche con alimentazione a bombolette di CO2.
C’è da dire che a volte la capacità viene indicata in 21 BB; ma la stessa ditta raccomanda di non superare i 15.
La carica dei pallini avviene attraverso un foro circolare, mentre una feritoia laterale consente di controllarne il numero.


In fact, I believe in light of rationalization of production, WETTI replicas of 1911 and its derivatives have two types of magazine: the singlestacked from 15 balls, and the 25 double stacked used on the HI Capa series, and is available with CO2 power.
We must say that sometimes the capacity is shown in 21 BB, but the same company recommends not to exceed 15.
The charge of BB happens through a circular hole, while a side slit alows to control its number.






Una cosa non mi piace più di tanto: le labbra del caricatore sono in plastica. Un colpo secco, anche quello dell’elevatore rilasciato bruscamente, può quindi danneggiarle.
E in effetti, un piccolo urto ha frantumato quelle dell’unico caricatore in mio possesso… limitando così le prove di tiro.
Per fortuna, sembra che i caricatori di scorta siano reperibili sul mercato a prezzi decisamente interessanti, e senza difficoltà.
In compenso, l’alimentazione è perfetta. Dopo alcune centinaia di colpi non ho ancora avuto alcun inceppamento.


One thing I do not like much: the lips of the magazine are made of plastic. A rap, even the elevator suddenly released, and it can become damaged.
Indeed, a small impact shattered the single one in my possession ... thus limiting the shooting tests.
Fortunately, it appears that magazines are available on the market at affordable price and without difficulty.
However, feeding it is perfect. After hundreds of shots I have not had any jam.


La scomposizione è tipica dei modelli derivati dalla 1911, anche nelle real steel; questo a motivo della boccola per la molla di recupero,che non può essere sfilata dal davanti.
Comunque, tolto il caricatore, si arretra il carrello, sino a far coincidere l’estremità della leva dell’hold open con l’intaglio sul bordo sinistro del carrello.
Si spinge l’estremità del traversino, sporgente dal fianco destro, liberandolo dal fermo a molla, e lo si estrae.


The breakdown is typical of models derived from 1911, also in real steel. This happens because of the recoil spring bush, which can not be pulled from the front.
However, after removing the magazine, it backs the slide up to match the end of the hold open lever with the notch on the left edge of the slide.
Push the end of the stud, protruding from the right flank, freeing the spring latch, and extract the hold open lever.







Si spinge verso avanti il carrello, separandolo dal fusto.
Con attenzione, si rimuovono la molla e l’asta guidamolla.

It pushes the slide forward, separating it from the frame.
Carefully remove the spring and spring guide rod.




Si sfila quindi, tirandola all’indietro, la boccola della molla di recupero.

Remove by pulling back the spring bush.



Si ruota di 45 gradi in senso antiorario la boccola della canna, e la si estrae.

Rotate 45 degree counterclockwise the barrel bush, and remove it.




Infine, si spinge in avanti la canna, liberandola dal carrello.

Push forward the barrel, and remove it from the slide.




E qui arriva il momento di passare alla descrizione pratica: come funziona?
Beh, avete presente uno di quei matrimoni in cui gli sposi passano la luna di miele a litigare… e nei mesi successivi scoprono dell’altro sempre cose nuove e carine?
Così è andata con questa MEU (SOC).
Arriva, prendo gas e pallini, e provo a riempire il caricatore…spruzzi e sbuffi dappertutto, patina gelata sulle dita… e una serie nutrita di esclamazioni pornofoniche.
Chiudo la scatola pensando di essermi lasciato abbindolare dal look eda alcune recensioni.
Passano un paio di giorni, la rabbia cala, riprovo…
Stavolta il gas entra. La valvola è a doppia guarnizione, anche se c’è un leggero trafilamento.
Inserisco una diecina di pallini, scarrello con un bel rumore secco,tiro il grilletto… un bel rinculo deciso, e un foro sul bersaglio…arrivo a otto pallini, poi il classico soffio.
Gas finito con otto colpi…
Altra arrabbiatura… ma una puntina di curiosità, per questo primo cambiamento, e così aspetto un paio di giorni e provo ancora. Stavolta i colpi sono parecchi di più, ed alla fine capisco (grazie a Loris, tecnico e docente): le guarnizioni debbono ammorbidirsi e adattarsi alle valvole.


And here comes the time for the practical description: how  it works?
Well, you know one of those weddings where the couple spend their honeymoon to fight ... and months later find the other new things and pretty each other?
So it went with this MEU (SOC).
It arrives, I take gas and shots and try to fill the magazine... sprays and puffs everywhere, fingers frozen coating... and a series of exclamations nourished.
I close the box thinking that I left duped by some reviews.
They spend a couple of days, the anger set, try again ...
This time the gas enters. The valve has a double seal, even if there is a slight discharge.
I put a dozen bullets, it rack with a nice sharp sound, pull the trigger... a nice sharp recoil, and a hole on the target... spent eight BB, then the classic puff.
Gas finished with eight shots ...
Another angry ... but a pinch of curiosity, for this first change, so expect a couple of days and try again. This time the shots are a lot more, and eventually understand (thanks to Loris, technical and teacher): seals must soften and adapt to the valves.





Una volta che sono correttamente in sede, ecco che un caricatore, con tiro in serie lenta, con un pieno di gas spara tranquillamente almeno trenta pallini… e li spara bene. Considerando che, da quanto ho letto, i caricatori per1911 della Tokio Marui a malapena tira quindici pallini con un pieno di gas, non posso che essere soddisfatto.

Chiarito questo, anche per consolare chi è agli inizi di questa storia d’amore, ecco la mia impressione: un orologio, con uno scatto straordinariamente leggero (la trazione necessaria è di appena 670 grammi), corto (bastano due millimetri, dico due!) e pulito.


Once they are properly in place, here is a charger, with slow shooting, with a full gas fired safely at least thirty shots ... and shoot them well. Whereas, from what I read, 1911 Tokyo Marui magazines barely pulls fifteen shots with a full tank of gas, I can be satisfied.

Clarified this, even for comfort the beginninners of such a love story, here is my impression: a watch, with an extraordinarily light shooting (the required traction is only 670 grams), short (just two millimeters, say two! ) and clean.






Le mire si acquisiscono molto bene, e le rosate sono concentrate; con occhi migliori dei miei, ed un po’ di allenamento, credo si possano stringere entro i tre centimetri a cinque metri.
Il merito và anche alle mire, ben acquisibili anche in situazioni di luce non ottimali.
La potenza non è esagerata, e credo stia fra 0.70e 0.80 metri al secondo (i dati reperiti segnalano 280 fps col green gas, quindi 0, 73 joule), ma questo non impedisce di avere un bel rinculo, e, cosa che mi piace assai, la sensazione del .45, ossia di un tiro relativamente lento e potente.

The sigths are taken very well, and impacts are concentrated, with eyes best of my, and a little 'training, I think you can make within three centimeters at five meters.
The merit also goes to the sights, can be obtained from less-thanl-optimal lighting situations.
The power is not exaggerated, and I believe is between 0.70e 0.80 meters per second (the retrieved data signal 280 fps with green gas, then 0, 73 joules), but this does not prevent you having a nice recoil, and what I like rather, the feeling of .45, which is a relatively slow and powerful shot.



A questo punto, non rimane che passare alle valutazioni finali.
L’uso di questa replica in schermaglie sui campi di gioco è certamente possibile (oltretutto, la costruzione metallica previene rotture anche con temperature alte), ma esiste di meglio per questo specifico lavoro. Due sono le ragioni: la capacità del caricatore di “soli” 15 pallini, contro i 25 ormai abituali nelle repliche softair, e il grilletto molto sensibile.
Come nell’arma vera, occorre molto allenamento per padroneggiarlo e non far partire colpi indesiderati.
Il reenactment moderno è certamente un campo più adatto a questa riproduzione; e se la forma gioca un ruolo importante a fianco dell’efficienza, qui entrambe le cose vanno a braccetto.
Vedo molto bene questa replica nell’uso sportivo, e specialmente nel tiro dinamico; la capacità massima di 16 pallini è quella prevista dal regolamento sperimentale che adesso gira in Italia, e tutto, a partire dall’impugnatura, è ottimizzato per questa disciplina.
Il tiro ai barattoli è divertente, e l’apparente potenza aiuta a scacciare per bene lo stress quotidiano.
In collezione, questa replica direi che è quasi obbligatoria: la sua sagoma è molto bella, e le finiture sono decisamente buone.
