A questo scopo sono stati ideati i Chest Rig che hanno grande capacità di trasporto di caricatori e, in questo caso, la possibilità di trasportare una piastra balistica anteriore.

The Knight's Armament Company PDW is a personal defense weapon, firing a new 6x35mm cartridge optimized for short barrel weapons.
As with all personal defense weapons, the KAC PDW is compact and lightweight similar to submachine guns, but have a longer useful range of 300 m.

The lower receiver that hold the magazine is essentially a shortened M4 lower receiver, which makes the basic operating controls familiar to many potential users. The magazine (holds 30 rounds), the upper receiver, and the operating mechanism are all new concept by KAC.
The KAC PDW uses a completely side-folding stock while M16 and M4 have their main operating spring in the tube stock, and therefore it’s only partially telescope.
The KAC PDW fires a 6x35 mm cartridge, shorter than the military standard 5.56x45mm NATO. Fired from a 25cm barrel, the 6x35mm cartridge reaches a muzzle velocity faster than the velocity of a 5.56x45 mm cartridge fired from a similarly short barrel. It has two barrels, 20cm or 25cm.

La confezione esterna è molto ben curata, ottima la scelta della stampa delle foto in bianco e nero; discutibile l’idea di raffigurare sulla scatola una enorme immagine dell’impugnatura.
Oltre alle avvertenze abituali, a caratteri ben più visibili leggiamo la curiosa dicitura:
“Don’t shoot any human or animal”. Tralasciando gli animali, l’abbiamo acquistato proprio per questo… bah!

La replica del KAC PDW, quando sul mercato è comparsa prodotta dalla GB Tech/VFC, ha costituito una vera e propria novità in un panorama abbastanza saturo di repliche di Colt M4 e cloni, ma non proprio alla portata di tutte le tasche.
Fortunatamente, DBoys, marchio Low Cost tra i più prolifici produttori di cloni, ha immesso sul mercato la propria copia di KAC PDW dal prezzo accessibile (circa 200,00 euro al pubblico).
A parte alcuni dettagli nelle finiture esterne, il prodotto DBoys differisce da quello VFC per prestazioni e per meccanica.

Per quanto riguarda le prestazioni, le principali differenze sono di carattere balistico, di energia del pallino e di precisione dello stesso.
In realtà, anche i VFC giunti per primi sul mercato italiano erogavano energia di poco superiore a 1 Joule e, pertanto, onde renderli utilizzabili sui campi di gioco, era necessario smontarli per le necessarie modifiche di depotenziamento.
Il DBoys – salvo qualche esemplare con il gruppo aria “difettoso” – è quasi sempre Over Joule e, quindi, il suo smontaggio per ridimensionarne l’esuberanza è una necessità se lo si vuole utilizzare in gioco. Una molla di potenza adeguata ed alcuni accorgimenti meccanici servono allo scopo.
There are differences in ballistic and energy performances between DBoys and VFC replicas. Even the VFC, first to arrive on the Italian market, was a little bit over 1 Joule and, therefore, to make them usable on the wargame fields, it was necessary to be tuned in order to be "legal".

Si sfila il perno passante anteriore e i due semigusci si separano.
Tuttavia, il perno passante posteriore, di cui, esternamente, si vedono le due estremità, nel caso del Kac è fasullo. Insomma, non c’è alcun perno passante quindi evitare di tentare di sfilarlo a martellate perché l’unico risultato che si ottiene è la rottura del receiver.

You have to push the pin through the front and the two halves separate.
However, the rear pin (externally, you see the two ends...), in the case of Kac is dummy. In short, there is no pin and then do not try to remove it: the only result you get is the breaking of the receiver.

Una volta scelta la molla da installare, potrebbe rendersi necessario eliminare i cuscinetti reggispinta dal pistone e dal guida molla.
Il gruppo aria va verificato. In più di un’occasione, ho trovato accoppiamenti che facevano tenuta in maniera discontinua.
Salvo cambiare l’intero insieme con prodotti aftermarket di qualità, una accurata pulizia del cilindro dal grasso che normalmente lo impregna e la sostituzione dello O Ring del pistone con uno in Viton (come quello verde in foto), aiuta ad ottenere una costante erogazione dell’aria compressa, a tutto vantaggio della rosata finale e della precisione, nonché affidabilità, della replica.

Alcuni KAC PDW DBoys che mi sono capitati sul tavolo di lavoro, erano provvisti di delayer sull’ingranaggio settoriale. Altri, non lo montavano. Il delayer si rivela indispensabile, specialmente se si opta per alimentare il fucile con batteria ad elevato voltaggio e, quindi, con ROF elevati.
Gli ingranaggi ruotano su cuscinetti a sfera da 7 mm – su alcuni esemplari, anche da 8 mm – e non richiedono correzione dello spessoramento.
I meccanici esigenti, si toglieranno lo sfizio di ripulire Gear Box e componenti interne dal grasso minerale utilizzato, per sostituirlo con altro lubrificante più sofisticato. In realtà, il grasso di serie non è, poi, così male.
Some KAC PDW DBoys I tuned were equipped with a delayer. Others do not carry it. The delayer is indispensable, especially if you opt to feed the gun with high-voltage battery, and thus with higher ROF.
The gears rotate on 7 mm - on some models, even 8 mm - ball bearings and do not require correction.
You can remove the mineral grease from the Gear Box, clean internal components and use another more sophisticated lubrificant.

Il peso contenuto e le dimensioni compatte offrono un brandeggio dell’arma eccellente.
Tenere l’arma appoggiata al tattico, frontalmente, non causa il minimo ingombro.

Andare in puntamento è cosa rapida: il calcio corto permette di tenere l’impugnatura anteriore vicina al corpo, con netto incremento della velocità di alzo dell’arma.
L’unico inconveniente è dato dal LAM in posizione laterale, che tocca la mano anteriore. Meglio spostarlo sul RIS superiore, anche se andrà ad occludere parzialmente la visuale delle mire.
Ottimo anche il selettore di tiro ambidestro: cambiare modalità di sparo per i destrimani è molto più agevole da effettuarsi rispetto al selettore posizionato sul lato sinistro del receiver inferiore.
Go on aiming is very fast: the short stock keeps the front handle near to the body, with a considerably increasing speed on take up the weapon.
The only bug is the LAM on the side that touches the front hand. It's better move it on the top RIS, even if it will go to partially obstruct the view of the sights.
Excellent ambidextrous selector: changing firing mode for right-handers is much easier to be done with the switch located on the lower left side of the receiver.

Unfortunately, the original spring brings overjoule our ASG and the hop up doesn’t work correctly, firing bullets in every direction.

Now the power is within the legal limit, now we have to see if the ASG works correctly.
Bullets shot out constantly but sometimes a bullet changes its trajectory, probably due to the hop up rubber that is cold and new.
During the test we used hi-cap magazines KAC produced by Jing Gong, containing 330 bb; you can find the short review at this LINK.
After the first magazine fired the hop rubber was softened and bullets come out all following the same trajectory, considering that we are talking about an ASG with a very short barrel.
After change magazine, it seems to work fine before bullets stop to come out.
Take out the magazine, the tube is empty as if spring has not been charged on, but we have done it.
Tightening the magazine with hands, plastics become large and the spring is released, bringing the bullets at the top exit of the tube. .
As mentioned in the review of the magazines, the plastics are of poor quality and bad fit between them.
Excluding this loading problem, because of the magazines, the ASG works perfectly, and its weight and size make it very easy to handle.
At the end of the game, I noted with disappointment that after only a morning of playing the ASG has some visible marks on receivers because of their opacity, as we have noted previously.

Esteticamente appagante, molto ben realizzata e solida.
Vale tutti i soldi che costa, e anche se necessita di qualche piccola modifica per renderla affidabile, è una ASG da consigliare assolutamente.

Dopo il primo caricatore il gommino si è ammorbidito e i pallini escono seguendo tutti la stessa traiettoria, chiaramente tenendo conto che stiamo parlando di una ASG con una canna decisamente corta.
Inserito un altro caricatore, sembra funzionare correttamente prima che i pallini smettano di uscire dalla volata.
Tolto il caricatore, il tubo di salita dei pallini è vuoto come se la molla non sia stata messa in tensione, ma non è così.
Stringendo il caricatore fra le mani le plastiche si allargano e la molla viene liberata, facendo salire i pallini fino alla bocca di uscita.
Come detto nella recensione dei caricatori, le plastiche sono di pessima fattura e mal combaciano fra di loro.
Problemi di cameramento dei pallini a parte, a causa dei caricatori, l'ASG funziona perfettamente, e il suo ridotto peso ed ingombro la rendono davvero maneggevole.
