 Ai lati del Chest Rig sono prensenti due classiche tasche HSGI porta caricatori per pistola (pistol-mag pouch). La chiusura è sempre doppia Velcro-Fastex e sono in grado di contenere caricatori di varie dimensioni potendo regolare l’altezza di chiusura della patella.

 On both sides there is a classical HSGI pistol-mag pouch. The pouches have double closure system Fastex / hook-and-loop and they can hold many kind of items, setting the height of the flaps.

 Sul frontale troviamo inoltre una piccola piastra in Cordura con tre anelli in metallo, ideata presumibilmente per potervi assicurare utensili e accessori inseriti nel D.A.C.H. (Foto 5).

Si possono osservare nella stessa zona il Fastex di chiusura rapida della tasca da cartografia e le due zip alle quali sono stati aggiunti after-market, due lacci in Para-Cord per migliorare la presa con i guanti indossati, anche se, le due chiusure delle Zip risultano di dimensioni congrue con la loro funzione.

 On the front side there's a little Cordura flap with the metal holes, probably to secure item through para-cord. (Fig.5)

 

In the same zone you can see the Fastex for the quick closure of the cartography pouch and the two zippers (YKK).



Alcuni dubbi ci sorgono sul sistema di ritenzione della tasca per il GPS: si tratta di un Bungee-Cord cucita sulla cordura, il che ci fa supporre che l’ago per cucire possa danneggiare i “cavi” elastici all’interno della Bungee-Cord determinando la rottura della stessa ma questo potrà essere confermato o smentito solo dall’uso prolungato e intensivo.
(EDIT: dopo un periodo di tempo non troppo lungo, quando prima ipotizzato si può ora confermare: la cucitura della bungee-cord ne determina la rottura interna e quindi il distacco. E' stata nostra premura comunicare questo direttamente alla HSGI come feedback).

Posteriormente a questi inserti per gli accessori del cartografo vi è una sottile tasca dove riporre eventuali documenti e/o fogli aggiuntivi.

Il piano di lavoro con il porta mappa si blocca a 90° grazie a due corde tese che lo ancorano al Chest Rig.

In caso d’emergenza questa tasca può essere chiusa rapidamemente con il Fastex centrale dato che, a pieno carico, chiudere la cerniera risulta difficoltoso.
Anche in situazioni di routine la chiusura della cerniera viene facilitata dalla preventiva chiusura del Fastex centrale.

Infine ci preme sottolineare la possibilità di asportare completamente la struttura deputata alla cartografia: infatti, sia il porta mappa che le tasche interne sono in realtà un “modulo” agganciato all’interno di una grossa tasca centrale tramite un Velcro.

Asportando quanto sopra si verrebbe a disporre di una grossa tasca interna, sulla cui praticità però nutriamo forti dubbi in quanto già il ricevitore GPS e gli altri piccoli accessori sono “avvertiti” a contatto con l’addome senza particolari fastidi, quindi, altri materiali liberi nella tasca, spinti indietro dal peso dei caricatori nelle apposite tasche, possono diventare realmente fastidiosi.

 

Let's go to analyze the big admin pouch.

 

When you will open the Fastex and the two zippers, you will open the big internal cartography  pouch when you will find a waterproof map-pouch for max A4 format.

On the back side there are many pouches for cartography activities: GPS device or compass pouch, pens and pencils pouch (6), four elastic retentions for chem-light, mags and other.

We have some dubts about the retention system of the GPS device pouch: it's made of bungee-cord and sewed on the Cordura and this could damage the inner elastic cables, but this could be confirmed only with a long use.

(EDIT: After a normal use, we can confirm what we supposed: sewing the bungee-cord damage the inner elastic cables and it will breack. We have just sent a feedback to HSGI)

Behind the cartography tools panel, there's a thin pouch where you could place documents or other maps.

The work table is locked at 90° opened thanks to two paracord that engage it to the chest rig.

In a case of emergency you can quickly close the cartography pouch through the central Fastex. To close the pouch with the zippers when full loaded could be difficult, so you can use the Fastex.

Moreover, we want to underline that the inner part of the cartography pouch could be removed thanks to two hook-and-loop panels, leaving a big inside pouch. You could do that because both the map pouch and the cartography tool pouch are two modules attached inside this pouch by hook-and-loop.

Removing the inside cartograp pouches, you will have a big inside pouch but we think this could be not so useful because addind only a little GSP device or other little tools, you will “feel” them hurting your chest or abdom, pushed also by the full loaded mags pouches.

 Il sistema di sospensione è affidato a due spallacci sovradimensionati in configurazione H-Harness, regolabili sia in larghezza della H che in altezza.

Gli spallacci sono agganciati tramite due Fastex al D.A.C.H.  dove sono stati inseriti anche due D-Ring. Sugli spallacci vi sono anche due ganci Fastex per l’Hydratation Carrier.

 The harness system is made by two over-sized H-Harness, you could set both in width and height.

 

The harness are attached to the D.A.C.H. thanks to two Fastex where are inserted also two plastic D-rings.
On the shoulder pad there are also two Fastex for the HSGI Hydration Carrier.

 La parte del D.A.C.H.  a contatto con il torace è costituito da una tasca in rete al quale è collegata la corda di ritenzione della tasca da cartografia.

Da apprezzare il fatto che in questo modo il grosso peso sostenuto dalla corda (caricatori, gps ecc.) sarà distribuito su tutta la larghezza del Chest Rig e non solo nei due punti degli anelli in metallo.

 The back side of the D.A.C.H. Is composed by a “net pouch” connected to the paracord of the cartography pouch retention system. 

 

You have to positive note that in this way the big load of the paracord (mags, gps device etc.) will be imparted on all the width of the chest rig and not only at the two points of engage. This prevent breaks and failure.

 CONCLUSIONI

Il D.A.C.H. è così come lo si vede.
Non ci sono tasche e taschine da riempire ma solo concrete pouch da gestire al meglio.
La sua natura, come si può ben comprendere, risulta sicuramente improntata al minimalismo e al “risparmio” di spazio.
Durante le prove in gioco abbiamo alternato la regolazione “bassa”, come presentato nelle immagini del sito web della HSGI, alla regolazione “alta”, quindi indossato come un plate carrier.
Soggettivamente abbiamo riscontrato un confort e una stabilità di gran lunga maggiore nell’utilizzo “plate carrier-like”, ovvero, indossato alto sul petto.
Nell’utilizzo più “basso” possiamo segnalare disequlibri dei carichi e spostamento del Chest Rig sul davanti.
Gli unici due inconveniente riscontrati nell’uso in configurazione “alta” sono un fastidio al basso addome dopo un utilizzo prolungato dell’Admin aperta (la quale, una volta aperta, stravolge gli equilibri e i giochi di leve facendo scaricare tutto il peso sul bordo inferiore del Chest Rig) e lo scorretto posizionamento degli spallacci che prenderanno posizione sulle spalle non con la loro parte più larga ma più anteriormente con la parte più stretta (cosa che, peraltro, reputiamo in questo caso ininfluente sul comfort, anche a pieno carico).
Tutto funziona a pieno ritmo sin da subito e il comfort e il feeling, anche al primo utilizzo, sono veramente notevoli.
I materiali e le cuciture sono, come al solito, al TOP di gamma, facendosi perdonare i piccoli segni d’inchiostro lasciati dagli addetti ai lavori per contrassegnare i punti di cucitura.
Nel panorama attuale dove vengono, talvolta, posti degli interrogativi sull’utilizzo degli zaini nelle lunghe pattuglie (LRRP) preferendoli a vest e chest rig di dimensioni enormi (cosa su cui personalmente non siamo d’accordo), il D.A.C.H. si posiziona in piena antitesi lasciando intendere che quando ci sia bisogno d’agire rapidamente e silenziosamente, lo si debba poter fare in tutta “libertà”.
Le quattro tasche porta caricatori possono essere gestite anche come utility pouch (dato, comunque, l’enorme volume di fuoco trasportabile), così come è possibile integrare il Chest Rig con un’Hydratation Carrier HSGI o uno zainetto Camelbak (o un vero e proprio zaino tattico).
Unico vero neo risulta il posizionamento della radio: non è possibile inserirla all’interno delle mag-pouch perché il cavo dell’auricolare impedirebbe la corretta apertura dell’Admin, così come è sconsigliato riporla all’interno della stessa, sia per questioni tecniche di segnale sia per il cavo che questa volta darebbe fastidio all’azione di chiusura dell’Admin e al posizionamento del PTT.
La soluzione, a nostro avviso, ideale è quella di applicare una radio-pouch lateralmente sulla grossa cintura lombare (che di fatto potrebbe essere una Duty Belt).
Il carico anteriore non risulta mai eccessivo per i carichi che possono essere prodotti da un softgunner, quindi, la zona lombare non risente particolarmente di questo stress, anche dopo lunghe pattuglie.

Il costo di un D.A.C.H. è di circa 130€ più spese di spedizione, costo in linea più con le serie Low Cost che con un tattico di qualità come questo.

 Conclusions

The D.A.C.H. is as you see it.
The are not pouches and little pockets to use but only mag pouches to use in the best way.
It's studied to reduce encumbrance and to have little dimensions.
During the playgame we have tried to wear it in low setting, as shown on the HSGI website and in “high” setting like a plate carrier and, in our opinion, in this way it gives the best feeling sensation of balance and comfort.
In the “low” setting, the D.A.C.H. is not balanced and you will have big movement of load.
In the high setting, you will feel annoying the long use of the cartography pouch opened because it hurts the low abdom. After that, using it in that way, the shoulder pad will push on your shoulder not with the largest zone but this is not a comfort problem.
We have to say that all works fine since the first use.
The sewns and materials used are at the top: you will see the little pencil marks of the manual manufacture.
In the airsoft view, where sometimes there's the suggest to not use backpacks for long range recon patrol (LRRP) but use a enormous tactical vest, the D.A.C.H. tells how it's important quickly and silent option to do some mission, leaving the backpack for a while to do the action. (We want to tell we are not agree with the suggest to not use a backpack for LRRP).
You can use the mag pouches as utility because the “fire-load” is very big: 12 mags. So you can decide to sacrifice 3 mags in favour of a bottle of water or other items.
The only real problem we have found is the radio placing: you can't place it in a mag pouch because the headset cable will make some problems with the cartography pouch opening and you cant' place inside that pouch both for signal problems and for zippers closing problems due the headset cable passing through.
We suggest to use a radio pouch attached to the waist belt that is so sturdy that you can almost use it as a duty belt.
The load is not so much, also in long patrolings, using airsoft load. The lumbar zone is not under stress.

The two chest rig of this review, in OD and Coyote version, have been supplied by Tactical Equipment and the price is 130€ each. The cost is in standard with the “low cost” equipment and not with high lever gear like that.
